BE MY BOO: FREE NEW HALLOWEEN SONG, 2018

New Halloween Song!!!

Sage Suede – Be My Boo

(Pictured above: Me holding Nolan, the kitty)

This is a fun halloween song. I just kind of threw together some poetic musings from my Halloween experiences and it’s a free download!
I spent more than a few hours on this and actually came up with most of the lyrics and half of the track last year. Then I wanted to finish it this year, so I dedicated a lot of time to improving and polishing it. Listen on SoundCloud and download in my store – NO SECRET CODE REQUIRED!

Listen Here:

Sage Suede – Be My Boo Lyrics

Let’s go to our old haunts
Have us something sweet
Maybe crash a party and
Then go out to eat
You have a nice star sign
Our planets are in sync
I wanna take you out tonight
Already Halloween

I just want you
I just want you
I just want you to be my boo
I just want you
I just want you
I always knew you were ghoul

Haters be sleepin on me
Cause they like my material
Wanna smooth the cover
and find it’s for real

Streets fillin up with
Candy hustlers
Watch your back it’s
Witchin Hour

There’s too many flavors to choose from
And the candy’s so free
Got a sweet tooth
And you’re looking at me

Let’s go to our old haunts
Have us something sweet
Maybe crash a party and
Then go out to eat
You have a nice star sign
Our planets are in sync
I wanna take you out tonight
Already Halloween

I just want you
I just want you
I just want you to be my boo
I just want you
I just want you
I always knew you were ghoul

(candy hustlers)
This candy corn is so hard
Whatever, I’m still gonna eat it
(lookin at me)

At that bougie party
making out in the closet
and even in that room that’s
probably haunted it
ruined your makeup but
we were so lovin
Had a vampire look
rubbed off before morning

Made up my mind
Honey you lookin so fine
Got a wordplay so nice
really brownin my rice
Imma cheese it so good
’til beats bangin in your hood
Won’t be misunderstandin
that we vibin so good

Let’s go to our old haunts
Have us something sweet
Maybe crash a party and
Then go out to eat
You have a nice star sign
Our planets are in sync
I wanna take you out tonight
Already Halloween

I just want you
I just want you
I just want you to be my boo
I just want you
I just want you
I always knew you were ghoul

WHO IS SUPER PETTY?

SUPER PETTY IS A SUPER HERO PARODY SERIES ON YOUTUBE

Super Petty is a super hero. He like so totally has immense power at his disposal (sort of like superman), but he is also super petty.

This YouTube comedy series is a super hero parody. He like totally saves tons of lives when he has time but as a super hero, he doesn’t actually have that much time.

He has super speed, but running really fast makes him tired and he has priorities, like looking good on TV when he saves people.

Super Hero or Super Villain?

Super Petty can be a bit problematic and difficult to work with. He has super good social skills and other super talents that should make it easy, but his personality often gets in the way of his crime fighting. He has good intentions and he doesn’t seek to harm anyone but he doesn’t put other people’s needs above his own.

This could be perceived as un-heroic and probably should be, but he isn’t cruel or violent, he is just petty. As such, it can be open to interpretation and sometimes his decisions will result in casualties because he’s too lazy to leave the house. He is frequently in need of mental health rest days and beauty sleep, among other quirky scenarios.

Super Petty includes a cast of kooky characters, including:

    • Hoe Mo’ Sapien – a powerful super hero who describes herself as “mo’ than a hoe” after obtaining super powers in a freak accident
    • Big THOT – a career criminal, most often robbing a bank or doing something else heinous. He might be dating Super Petty, but it’s ambiguous.
    • True Goth – another Sage Suede series where I am a goth. He doesn’t make a full cameo in Super Petty, but in episode 4 he steals Super Petty’s table.
    • “Yo Boy” Tobias – likely a hitman, he performs odd jobs that are perceived by most as unsightly. Super Petty hires him to plant a bug in an antagonist’s salad for “snitching on his secret identity.”
    • Police Officer – tbh I forgot if I gave him a full name yet, but he calls Super Petty to get help with police work. Super Petty likes him a lot, but doesn’t necessarily follow through on all of the favors. Technically, he has an obligation to do something, because he is employed by the city government, but you’ll see how that works out.

The Super Petty Theme Song

This song is perfect for Super Petty because it is about butts. Super Petty usually dances while answering his emergency hotline and the song helps set the mood for the conversations afterwards. It’s meant to be silly and not taken too seriously.

Shop Sage Suede & ElectroPapi EP

Welcome to my new store Shop Sage Suede!

I will be adding fashion, street wear, music, accessories and other wonderful things to the store. I am currently working with suppliers on setting this up.

ElectroPapi EP

I am working on a new release called ElectroPapi EP. It will be 4-6 tracks and features a futuristic electro-pop sound. I have evolved significantly since DIAMONDBACK Demo, as you can probably tell. When I released DIAMONDBACK, it was just me every step of the way. My music continues to rely solely on my personal growth and my drive to succeed.

I really wouldn’t have been able to make this site without choosing a career in marketing. I have years of experience with designing sites, sending emails and all that jazz from work and that has made all the difference. Because I didn’t have an online presence at the onset, I have had to focus more on the marketing than the music component and there are still outstanding issues with DIAMONDBACK Demo. I released it in all music stores un-mastered, because I didn’t know any better. I used almost no vocal comping, etc..

Check out the mirrored dance video for DIAMONDBACK. I made it of course, with my okay video editing and dancing abilities.

However, My Mistakes Are Good News For You!

I don’t want anyone to pay full price for the demo anymore, especially since I didn’t master it before release. As a result, DIAMONDBACK Demo is 100% free un-mastered through this site. You can also get the mastered version of DIAMONDBACK Demo for only $3 in Shop Sage Suede. I am very generous about sharing with my fans, because your support is very important to me. I am charging $3 for the mastered demo, because it is much cheaper than the un-mastered version and that’s essentially the cost of a single song including tax and yes, the state of Texas is taking a cut of that $3, so I’m not actually earning anything. I was just hoping that I could get enough to cover the mastering fee.

Note: I will be uploading the mastered version of DIAMONDBACK Demo to replace the un-mastered version in other stores.

More About ElectroPapi EP

I am almost done with the first few tracks of my EP. The lead track is called Soft Serve Chillin and you can find the preview below:

Skirt Flirt is another track on the EP, but I haven’t shared a preview yet.
If you dig deep, you can probably find it in one of my recent Live.me streams.

I also shared 2 previews of Takin a Sip (this is the least finished, so it has a lot of potential to change).

Will You Revisit Tracks on DIAMONDBACK Demo?

I haven’t decided if I will remix or re-make any tracks on DIAMONDBACK Demo yet. I am considering doing a new version of Shaky Lips (Lazy Sunday with You). If there is a track that you really love and you would like me to improve on the EP, then please let me know!

I learned a lot from DIAMONDBACK Demo, mostly about audio editing, but also all about sharing my music. It’s not easy at all and it’s really hard to get any support from people.

If you’re someone that really values my work, I highly encourage you to share it! I won’t be able to do touring, until things scale up further. That being said…

Sage Suede Has Grown a Lot.

When I started this website in May 2015, Sage Suede didn’t exist. I didn’t have any music online, except for under a myspace persona called T.D. Maurader (spelling?).  I don’t even remember and it was the name I was calling myself. Before Sage Suede, I also briefly went by the name AJ Bluejay. That’s why you can find an image or two on this site with that name.

I finished DIAMONDBACK Demo in March 2017. In retrospect, it definitely wasn’t finished without mastering, but I had to be thoroughly criticized and maligned to acknowledge that I’m held to a multi-billion dollar industry standard that really isn’t achievable for anyone. I really do mean that, because it’s rare to find independent artists that even make it to my current musical quality, without paying $300/song for each mix and that same price again for every master + 50 other people that make minor edits to all of their tracks. Unfortunately, that’s what people think music is and they laud mega-celebrities to the point of desperation. I wish I could be respected for what I’ve made, but most of the time it’s just a comparison to somebody else.

Since all of that, I now have social media across the internet. I’ve completed a lot more modeling experiences, which is a passion of mine, and I started up my YouTube channel. I really want to help provide people with the cool stuff they’re working on and I’m doing the best I can with what I can afford. I hope that y’all can keep things in perspective, but don’t worry about ElectroPapi EP – it is up to the standards of the music industry, but only because I’ve gotten much better at audio editing, singing, and more! I already have it stuck in my head every day lol.

I’m at ~50K followers now, but I feel like too many of those are for a followback. I wish I had time to look through everyone’s posts, but I don’t and I try my best to be present when I am online (note: if you engage with me, I do my best to look at your profile afterwards ;)). As of late, I’ve been holding off on followbacks because that kind of makes me sad. I try so hard and struggle to get visibility, like the last time I promoted a video on my primary social profiles, it only got 15 more views. That’s awful and it is a trend in social media that it becomes more and more like an advertising platform, as they shift their algorithms to remove all of your friend’s content from your newsfeed. You can blame Facebook for that, because they started it and it’s still happening across social platforms. I’ve never been happy about it as an indie artist.

Anyways, after much self-debate, I have decided to continue following back on Twitter for the time being. My reasoning is that it’s better to have people that follow me for the followback than to lose people that have a genuine interest in my hard work. I would rather followback people that won’t engage than lose out on an opportunity to get to know people that genuinely care. I am not following back on other social platforms because they have low follow limits.

It Was So Hard to Make Everything on This Site

I’ve lost a lot of friends while pursuing these goals. I’ve lost relationships and been berated by others for having an online presence. People used to respect my intelligence more before I got good at styling my hair and I enjoy modeling too. I don’t do this because I’m a narcissist. I don’t need to share my modeling photos and I really don’t need people to acknowledge what I look like. I am working to materialize a goal that I’ve always had and that’s to be a musician full-time. I’ve learned to improve everything at a very fast pace, while constantly being told I’m not good enough, but I know that my main skills are in music. I am a multi-instrumentalist, although I had to focus on the audio production aspects for a while. I didn’t pick up marketing until internships in college and I really learned most of my skills by working (I only took one course in marketing in college). It’s been a really long ride and in many ways, a constant struggle.

I am looking forward to a day when I can be respected for who I am. That might not happen until I die. I don’t really care anymore. I’m tired of people trying to write me off, because they bought into a person that was sold to them for millions of dollars. I don’t have that kind of money and I don’t want to be compared to them. Few of them have any of the skills that I have through working so hard towards my goals. Pretty much everything I do for Sage Suede is outside of my work hours, so it’s like a full-time job and I just want to share my art with people.

I am really excited to share the new store with y’all!

You may or may not know this, but I have good taste in clothes and I am carefully curating every item for the new store. It may not be until next week or so that I get the first new item on the store, but that’s only because I am in the process of re-designing my logo. You will love it, I’m sure. I have design experience but the designer I’m working with is much better than me with illustration and clean images. I want it to be high quality for y’all and I can’t wait for the products to start getting released! In the meantime, you’ll probably start to see some prodfucts without logos.

The style of the new store can be described as street wear that is actually cool. I don’t want to give much detail, because if it’s anything like the last time I got a pair of glasses, 15 people will imitate me the second they see it. I have an innate eye for style that can’t be imitated though and I know that I have a lot to offer the world of fashion. At some point, you will also be able to purchase these products at my concerts.

I look forward to sharing more with everyone! Download the free version of DIAMONDBACK in my store, or help me cover the small fee of getting it mastered. I’ve come a long way since debating my name two years ago and struggling to finish my Demo during college. I am so happy to have you with me on this journey and I hope you’ll check back soon. You can also subscribe to my new email list for access to blog posts and new content one week before everyone else! It’s the tab/pop-up in the bottom right of the screen called Saucy Posse Fast Access.

Bird Girl

Another Song About a Previous Relationship

I wrote this about my first relationship in college. It’s about both being in a romantic relationship, as well as a strong, independent women. My ex was mentally strong and it is a quality that I admired about her. She wore bright red lipstick a lot and she was actually really cool. That’s why I say “an unifinished nest” because there is probably some iteration of reality, in which we did stay together. I felt a good connection with her and we had a positive relationship together.

She Liked France a Lot

She stopped showering for a while, just because it was something that she told me was typical of French culture. She said that they didn’t shower and they wore a lot of cologne. We were together for about half a year, but we broke up while we spent a summer apart. She went to France and I went to Brazil for a brief study abroad. We didn’t see each other after the month ended either, as we had to go home before the commencement of other classes. A few months apart is difficult for any relationship. Sometimes I wonder how I would have acted if I was more mature in that situation.

How That Relationship Ended

While I was in Brazil, I went to a bar called Al Capone’s with a bunch of friends. I met an attractive woman in a red corset and we really hit it off. I danced with her and then we made out for a while. We didn’t hook up or anything, but she left her business card in my pocket.

I didn’t feel bad about it and that’s how I knew I needed to end my relationship. I do not condone cheating and I am not about that life. When I didn’t feel bad about violating my relationship (in my opinion), I cut things off. It was out of consideration for my partner’s feelings, because I didn’t want to lead her on. I did miss her and we had a lot of good times together, but it just wasn’t the right relationship for me. Maybe it was just the timing and of course, being in different countries is a huge burden on any couple. I don’t think that I was entirely emotionally ready for a relationship at that point in time. I don’t regret it and I actually place a lot of value in her as a person.

Unfortunately, We Weren’t Able to Stay Friends

We tried to stay friends for a while, but we just weren’t ever able to communicate the same way again. At the end of college, we hung out a little bit with mutuals and we were able to be cool with each other. After college, we were able to catch up a little bit online but that’s where things left off. I’m glad that she was so positive and strong throughout that entire ordeal and I wish I could have been a better person for her. In a way, this song is me trying to immortalize what we used to have. Most relationships that start freshmen year of college are doomed to fail anyway.

What About the Red Corset Girl?

Umm, she put her business card in my pocket when she left. She was a wedding planner in Brazil and I didn’t call her while I was still there. Leaving a relationship was enough burden for me at that point and I wasn’t ready for another one. I used to wish that I had gotten to know her, but I was only in Brazil for one month so there wasn’t much hope. I thought about friending her on Facebook after returning to The U.S., but by then it didn’t seem worth it anymore. It would be cool, if we have a chance encounter some day but it’s highly unlikely.

Musical Composition of Bird Girl

I wrote this song on guitar, before I created the drum beat. This is one of the songs I made with ProTools, when I still had access to it on the Northeastern University library computers. I only use Ableton now, because ProTools is ridiculously expensive. I think that this song came together rather nicely and had a good cohesiveness to it. Lyrically, it has powerful metaphors that illustrate a really interesting scenario. The metaphors don’t exactly mirror the way our relationship was, but they have a raunchy feeling to them that captures the sensual energy of our relationship.

Bird Girl lyrics by Sage Suede

Bird Girl
you liked to be stern
always had a sweater on
you let things unfurl

Bird Girl
you rarely had makeup on
if you did was red lipstick
with dark eyes said I’m #1

Bird Girl
you didn’t need to shower
if you did, I’d probably join you
and we’d stay there for an hour like a
full moon
rise a sensual tide
water between her thighs
and the shower curtain fell again

it might’ve been
it could’ve been
it should’ve been
it would’ve been

all the happiest dreams

it had to be
it couldn’t be
it was an incomplete masterpiece

like an unfinished nest
on a motel out west
not free to park
but with a fully stocked mini bar

Bird Girl
you liked to be stern
always had a sweater on
you let things unfurl

Bird Girl
you rarely had makeup on
if you did was red lipstick
with dark eyes said I’m #1

Bird Girl
you didn’t need to shower
if you did, I’d probably join you
and we’d stay there for an hour like a
full moon
rise a sensual tide
water between her thighs
and the shower curtain fell again

it might’ve been
it could’ve been
it should’ve been
it would’ve been

all close contact
I’ll like your ear
you’ll text back

it had to be
it couldn’t be
it was an incomplete masterpiece

it might’ve been
it could’ve been
it should’ve been
it would’ve been

spread your wings and fly high
with apathy that never dies

it had to be
it couldn’t be
it was an incomplete masterpiece

young love electrified

Bird Girl
you liked to be stern
always had a sweater on
you let things unfurl

Bird Girl
you rarely had makeup on
if you did was red lipstick
with dark eyes said I’m #1

Bird Girl
you didn’t need to shower
if you did, I’d probably join you
and we’d stay there for an hour like a
full moon
rise a sensual tide
water between her thighs
and the shower curtain fell again

And now I’m left with nothing
but all this would be loving
just took a red corset
another’s lips and now I’m
lost again

Yes, I lick ears and that is usually a turn on for musicians lol. I didn’t train my cat to do that though.

How Can I

How Can I call you my lover Sage Suede

How Can I is A Song About Millennial Dating

Nowadays, most people meet through dating apps and it is great to meet someone worthwhile, but oftentimes they are already talking to other people before they even meet you. So it’s optimistic to even expect dating to go anywhere when you meet someone from an app.

Why is it Optimistic?

Unfortunately, dating apps make everyone a commodity. No matter how attractive you are, it just takes a few more swipes to meet someone else.

Tip: Try To Ask Your Date About Their Dating Life

If you talk with someone and they are an honest person, they should tell you where you stand. They should also give you an idea of whether or not they are seeing multiple people, or have already met someone before you. It can feel deceptive when someone is dating others, but keep in mind that you may not be at the exclusive phase yet. They could also be polyamorous and if that’s the case, then you need to be okay with it for your relationship to work. I have had people break up with me because I’m not polyamorous and that doesn’t offend me. They just wanted something that I couldn’t give them. This song isn’t really that relevant to polyamory, unless you are speaking in terms of someone that isn’t ready to date you at all.

Modern Dating Sometimes Has a Longer Dating Phase

I have met couples that were married after one or two weeks of dating. They are a bit older than me, so I presume that it is a generational difference, however that can also be the case when you meet someone that is just right for you. However, with all of these apps and fewer societal obligations to get married, many people of younger generations are waiting longer to get married. As a result, the dating phase can last much longer than expected.

You won’t get to be exclusive with people as quickly as in the past. It’s also not nearly as easy, when they can search for others on the internet and that is the premise of this song.

How can you even call someone a lover, if they are unwilling to settle down with you?

That question is much longer than How Can I, which also evokes a lack of the ability to put this meaning into words.

It’s Hard to Find Consistency in Your Teens and Early Twenties

However, as many people get older, there is more desire to settle down. It’s nothing to get worked up about, because it won’t get you anywhere. Most people don’t know what they want at a young age and they can’t even identify what they need in a partner. Just be clear with your partner when you would like to be exclusive and don’t try to change who they are.

dating advice sage suede

Sometimes, you can get someone to be exclusive with you rather quickly, but usually it takes at least a few dates and several weeks. Since I’m talking about this concept, I would also like to mention that you don’t want to tell someone you love them too early on, because it makes you seem desperate. Sometimes this can be have poor consequences, early in a relationship.

You really can’t put a time frame on when it’s okay to say “I love you,” but if I ventured a wild guess I would say 3 months. You really need to read your partner’s body language though and if you feel that close to them, they may be in a similar place.

Musical Composition of How Can I

This song is written with an alternative rock feeling to it. It is most similar in style to Cleopatra on DIAMONDBACK Demo. It also features a drum machine and electric guitar. I would like to get a higher quality guitar pedal in the future, so the distortion is a little more clear. This was another step in the right direction for me, as the songwriting process taught me more about rock vocals and what I want to sound like.

How Can I lyrics by Sage Suede

I was looking at the moon
la lune
and she says be there soon
shut in like a coccoon
butterfly
too dark to go and fly
rubberneck dirt road
killing my flow
not sure
how to cope
when it’s just picking up a fight
a girl just like any other

How can I call you my lover
when we still want another
hand and hand but wondering
why do we even bother
perfect is a dirty word
don’t think I have ever heard
a single lie just quite as dry
but loving you feels just right

I was walking down the street
you’d speak
beautiful words muttered
under your breath
confess to me
through my window shutters
seen so many details of so many females
like to hear her tale
read her like an email
must be like a single light
a spark that struck me just right

How can I call you my lover
when we still want another
hand and hand but wondering
why do we even bother
perfect is a dirty word
don’t think I have ever heard
a single lie just quite as dry
but loving you feels just right

farewell
but you cast your spell
I wanted to see it through
you rang the bell
and my pride fell
I’ll come crawling
back to you
warm fuzzy full it’s like
orange fills my soul
this light
could keep me there
could make me stare
into your eyes
and kiss you tonight

How can I call you my lover
when we still want another
hand and hand but wondering
why do we even bother
perfect is a dirty word
don’t think I have ever heard
a single lie just quite as dry
but loving you feels just right

Bring my Diamondback

Sage Suede is 2 years old!

Yesterday marks the two year anniversary of the founding of this site. I released DIAMONDBACK Demo in May, 2017. You can find it through Deezer, Tidal, Amazon, Spotify, iTunes, & Soundcloud.

Just an Indie Entrepreneur

As you probably know by now, I have done just about everything for Sage Suede myself. I have performed WordPress design, graphic design, social media marketing, audio and video editing… I wrote all of my songs, played guitar, sang vocals, created the beats on all of my tracks, etc.. Music has always been a long term goal for me and I have been making decisions based around this pursuit since I was a kid. I have learned just about everything I need to know, except for how to get press for my music. This is the last step I need to take before getting consistent gigs and possibly transitioning into music full-time, at some point in the future.

I recently organized a collaboration with my favorite skater brand One Gig Co! See more on my modeling portfolio: SageSuede.com/Portfolio.

Sage Suede is 100% Independent

I am still modeling, but it’s mostly for fun. I am modeling the runway at MassArt tomorrow, which should be fun and generate some cool photos. I enjoy modeling and am mostly using the images for exposure, on instagram, and to showcase my skills for future roles.

As a musician in Boston, I have not met any label representatives in person and am still learning how the industry works. On June 3rd, I have my first booking to play original music on WEMF Radio’s Social Conditioning and have been a regular in random discussions on the program for the past few weeks. The program is based around pushing social boundaries, so it can be edgy in subject matter. They call me true goth on the program and we talk about gothic ideas a lot. True Goth is also a YouTube series I made. It’s sort of a parody of people that take the gothic lifestyle to the extreme. I also like a lot of gothic culture, so none of this web series is meant to be interpreted with any disrespect.

About The Song Bring my Diamondback

This song is loosely based on my life in March and April of this year, when I was organizing a lot of indie modeling roles, as well as some acting.

This Song is About Bringing Abundance Into Your Life

The lyrics are written in a way, so as to bring more opportunity into your life. It’s not just me bragging about myself. I use concepts in magic, where you would speak for an outcome, rather than purely based on the present. Not everything I say is meant to be taken literally, and this song is more about the intention than the situations I describe. I say “8 times” because 8 is seen as a number of abundance and by repeating it, I am seeking to bring more abundance into my life. If you have ever seen the symbol for infinity, it is just like the number 8. ∞

Variety is the Spice of Life

Personally, I think this is one of the best tracks on DIAMONDBACK Demo. I know it is unconventional to include great tracks at the end of a demo, but some of the best songs on DIAMONDBACK are at the end and it makes the demo really dynamic and interesting. It really isn’t conventional at all to include so many styles or tracks within one demo.

What The Haters Completely Misunderstood🙄

You could complain about high pitches, or slight variation in the rhythm due to the bending of the pitches, but that ignores the underlying drum rhythms in the track and the overall experimentation that makes this track so unique. It doesn’t use conventional sounds and it has a lot of buildup, created by the combination of disparate sounds. I mostly just talked on this track, rather than singing, so that wasn’t as rhythmic as my vocals on newer tracks.

More About Magical Concepts in Bring My Diamondback

When I say “Finding time for relaxation, Raising my vibration,” that is about how activities like yoga and meditation help to raise your spiritual vibration. You might think “baloney!” or whatever cheesy word you use to ignore all of the spiritual aspects of reality, but if you actually meditate for long enough, you can feel your vibration rising. To cast a positive outcome, such as the lyrics in this song, you will usually need to be in a heightened spiritual state, for it to be most effective. I have taken meditation and seership classes, which helped me to get better at this and I believe in it, but it doesn’t offend me if you don’t. Just please don’t attack me for including my interest in magic, within my music. Attacking me for considering magical concepts is a total denial of my ability to express myself freely and is an attempted violation of my civil rights.

This state of clear-headedness is similar to the colloquial phrase “zoning out,” where you let go of your thoughts in order to clear your mind. This is the blank slate you need to cast your intention in magic and spiritual practices. Unfortunately, our society is so distracted by unrelenting technology, that most people never fully clear their mental state enough to understand what I’m even talking about. Maybe I can explicate on this further another day. Please keep an open mind, even if you have no interest in these concepts.

Sage Suede – Bring my Diamondback lyrics

Finding time for relaxation
raising my vibration
a creative musician
With a touch of superstition

I’ll sing it so sweet
Huffing over the beat
I’m so experimental
On a whole new level

Haters are in denial
Some even jack my style
I have my way of thinking
And it’s more original

Talking like they know me
And I know they never will
I’m multi-metropolitan
Known all over the world

Bring my Diamondback
8 times my last casting…
Booking photoshoots each week
Doing some acting

Bring my Diamondback
8 times my last casting..
Been building my skills
For decades my passion

Finding time for relaxation
Raising my vibration
a creative musician
With a touch of superstition

I’ll sing it so sweet
Huffing over the beat
I’m so experimental
On a whole new level

Haters are in denial
Some even jack my style
I have my way of thinking
And it’s more original

Talking like they know me
And I know they never will
I’m multi-metropolitan
Known all over the world

Bring my Diamondback
8 times my last casting…
Booking photoshoots each week
Doing some acting

Bring my Diamondback
8 times my last casting..
Been building my skills
For decades my passion

Everyday’s a masquerade
I’ve seen enough of it…
My music is something new
Not so repetitive

I like my stuff a little rough
Edgy with deep bass
Take a risk, I’ll make you rich
Already making waves

Finding time for relaxation
raising my vibration
a creative musician
With a touch of superstition

I’ll sing it so sweet
Huffing over the beat
I’m so experimental
On a whole new level

Haters are in denial
Some even jack my style
I have my way of thinking
And it’s more original

Talking like they know me
And I know they never will
I’m multi-metropolitan
Known all over the world

Bring my Diamondback
8 times my last casting…
Booking photoshoots each week
Doing some acting

Bring my Diamondback
8 times my last casting…
My fans are really smart
They like my art
They have my heart

Gonna Miss These Kids

About The Song – Gonna Miss These Kids by Sage Suede

This song is about my childhood, specifically what high school parties were like. I don’t go into much detail, but I had a lot of cool friends and this song is me reminiscing. At the end of the song I talk about history. The first party my friends and I organized, we were writing hundreds of flashcards for AP U.S. History, then we decided to throw a party. I still have a lot of love for the people I know back home (including other friends outside of this group of friends) and I still keep in contact with many of them. We have the kind of friendships where if we don’t talk, then things are still pretty much the same the next time we hangout.

Basically, We Were Cool Nerds

It’s funny because the group of friends I partied with the most were all really smart. We all worked really hard, were in advanced, college-level classes and participated in after school activities. None of us really cared about popular kids; Like they were okay, we weren’t mean to them or anything, but they were just shallow and not very interesting. We never cared about being popular because we were already cool on our own time. You could maybe say that we were living double lives, working hard and staying on top of things during the day, but at night, we’d have these awesome house parties that no one ever knew about. So I wrote this song to commemorate our great times.

I can’t speak for all my friends but overall we were just happy to spend time with each other and it had nothing to do with what other people thought about us. I guess that’s why we had so much fun and became so close in the process. We still hangout sometimes, just not as often as we used to. I’ve moved a few times, so I have actually been the most distant.

I Grew Up In Austin, Texas and It Is Pretty Cool

I just wanted to share a little bit about this one hidden aspect of what high school was like for me. I was always busy and worked really hard, but I played hard with my friends and that’s what this song is about. A lot of people party hard in Texas and honestly, it’s one of the coolest states regardless of all the pathetic stereotypes that make us sound like were in the 1800s riding horses to class, lol. I am thinking about making a video with them next time we are able to get together again, but who knows. I tried to direct a movie with a script I wrote once, but no one felt like putting in effort.

Lessons Learned From Partying Too Hard

Sometimes we did drink way too much. We were always there for each other though and did our best to keep everyone safe. When you invite new people over to parties, they are wild cards so you have to be sure they won’t do something crazy or reckless too.

I had a high GPA but I was wait-listed at Princeton. I think it’s mostly because I knew next to nothing about the school and the only thing I asked about during the interview was eating clubs, but it could have also been related to small moments that I didn’t work hard, because I was out drinking. I don’t actually care at all, but sometimes I wonder if I would have had more opportunities, if I had studied just a little bit harder. I was at the top of my class, so it wouldn’t have been that much more effort.

I Didn’t Want This To Be A Pop Song

My music is personal, although I share it with others and I am more introspective than this song about partying would have you believe. I have a lot more to offer than just a party anthem and that’s why this is not written in a conventional pop style. I want to make my fans more successful by discussing things of substance, because in turn they can help me out. That’s probably why I started a magic series on YouTube a few years later, but I’m re-evaluating if that is actually helping me to reach my goals.

Sage Suede – Gonna Miss These Kids

Gonna miss these kids
Gonna miss our kicks
Still have our tricks
And fancy hits
Still looking fly
Still talking shit
But we’re alright
And there’s no catch

Gonna miss these kids
Gonna miss our kicks
Still looking fit
And taking tips
Still staying late
On Saturdays
But we need mint
And that’s the clinch

Life is like a movie
And we had a sweet prequel
We’ll keep on living
Until there’s a sequel
I like to blend heartache
With vodka and jello
But we’re all still mellow
Barely time for a hello

Life is like a movie
And we had a sweet prequel
We have great stories
Of parties, chill people
You helped to save me
From the hard work daily
So many great nights
Barely had enough time

Gonna miss these kids
Gonna miss our kicks
Still have our tricks
And fancy hits
Still looking fly
Still talking shit
But we’re alright
And there’s no catch

Gonna miss these kids
Gonna miss our kicks
Still looking fit
And taking tips
Still staying late
On Saturdays
But we need mint
And that’s the clinch

Life is like a movie
And we had a sweet prequel
We’ll keep on living
Until there’s a sequel
I like to blend heartache
With vodka and jello
But we’re all still mellow
Barely time for a hello

Life is like a movie
And we had a sweet prequel
We have great stories
Of parties, chill people
You helped to save me
From the hard work daily
So many great nights
Barely had enough time
——
If we ever wrote a book
It would be off the hook
It would sell off the shelves
Cause we partied next level

Skinny dipping
Bar tending
Smoke building
Texas shit
Not those other states
wishing that they could handle it

High school
The Party nights
I’m just being forthright
We were nerds, we did fine
Yet we went hard
double lives

Never turned down
Another round
Girls were going
Pound for pound
Chillin with my favorite crew
We didn’t need to prove our cool
——
Gonna miss these kids
Gonna miss our kicks
Still have our tricks
And fancy hits
Still looking fly
Still talking shit
But we’re alright
And there’s no catch

Gonna miss these kids
Gonna miss our kicks
Still looking fit
And taking tips
Still staying late
On Saturdays
But we need mint
And that’s the clinch

Life is like a movie
And we had a sweet prequel
We’ll keep on living
Until there’s a sequel
I like to blend heartache
With vodka and jello
But we’re all still mellow
Barely time for a hello

Life is like a movie
And we had a sweet prequel
We have great stories
Of parties, chill people
You helped to save me
From the hard work daily
So many great nights
Barely had enough time

New Years was always huge
Always had a big crew
House parties ’til numb
Pool and a hot tub

Started with history
We wrote flash cards all day
Had a house to get drunk
dedicate then go hard

I still reminisce
no regrets

————————————-
I had really low self esteem until the end of high school and was really nerdy in middle school. People liked me for being genuine and for treating them respectfully. It was never about being the prettiest, or a jock, or whatever, although, it’s cool to have fun past times like that too, if that’s your thing. You don’t need to party either, that’s just what we did. In the end, what was most valuable was what we learned and the memories we still share.
